Interested to know?:
What are the main differences between butt joint and expanded beam technology?
Butt Joint: Fiber optic butt-jointed connectors align and bring the prepared ends of two fibers in physical contact.
Expanded Beam: Fiber optic expanded-beam connectors use two lenses to first expand and then refocus the light from the transmitting fiber into the receiving fiber. These lenses either collimate the light emerging from the transmitting fiber, or focus the expanded beam onto the core of the receiving fiber.
